This course, led by Melissa Mott, will cover the essentials of finance. The courses will help participants become conversant in key financial management indicators. Participants will learn how to assess the organization’s financial health by reviewing balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow, and they will discover how finance and accounting tools can be used to support informed decision-making within organizations.
Key Learning Gains:
- Understanding the organization’s financial policies and procedures to ensure your organization meets standards
- Managing risk: separation of duties
- Identify and describe the documents and financial statements, including an organization’s financial report
- Affirm compliance with understanding critical areas of federal, state, and local law and regulations
- Comprehension of the organization’s 990 and its implications
- Budgeting for success (what to include, not include, and understand for different program, fundraising, grant, capital, and organizational budgets)
