Blues Angel Music Foundation proudly represents one of the twenty-two nonprofit organizations enrolled in Pensacola State College’s inaugural certification program hoping to expand their impact on the community. Born from the efforts of Blues Angel Music owners, Nan and Jim DeStafney, their foundation aims to make a positive impact on the Greater Pensacola Area through the promotion of music education, instruction, and therapy throughout the lives of every individual it touches.
The DeStafneys, prior to their organization’s launch in 2014, poured their support into local music-focused organizations. Recognizing an opportunity to help bring positive change to others through music education and therapy, the Blues Angel Music (BAM) Foundation was born.
For over a decade, the BAM Foundation has spread the power of music to pockets of the community where it did not previously reach. Harnessing music therapy to aid others in overcoming language, cognition, and motor control impairments, their organization serves a wide variety of individuals, young and old, from all walks of life.
Through certification, the BAM Foundation aims to maximize their mission through support of organizations, scholarships, and efforts to engage the mind and body through music. “Our organization is growing,” Executive Director, Nan DeStafney shared. “PSC’s Center for Nonprofit Excellence helps us nurture its growth by opening doors to discussions of leadership and allowing us to continue educating ourselves.”
